No XBOX 360 Price cut?...

Recently there was a rumor that the XBOX 360 might see a price cut later this year, but then came "the official word" from Gamerscore Blog, that there are currently no plans for a price cut this fall. No problem I'm patient, instead of scratching my new console itch with something from the next generation, I'll treat myself to a console from the past. The console I'm referring to is the Dreamcast. This afternoon I was checking out some of my favorite game sites and saw this, GameDaily's Dreamcast Guide. This guide was great, to see the console and all those games I had heard of along with screenshots was fantastic. So that fact that XBOX 360 is not cutting it's price won't keep me from enjoying myself with a new gaming console, well new to me anyway.

Free Web Games From Nintendo

I was checking out Nintendo's site and I found these web games, the Odama one was hilarious. Here is the link to Nintendo's online Arcade.

Gamer's Kryptonite: Superman's 10 Worst Games from 1UP.com

I had fun going through this list, I've never played any Superman games and don't plan on playing one any time soon. There is a new Superman game due later this year, it's based on the movie "Superman Returns". I'm on the fence on this new game, it looks good, but will it be fun to play?. I looked at the XBOX version of "Superman Returns: The Videogame", but it's a multi platform game, for more info check out this link to Gamespot.

In my first post today was a list of best selling games. One of the N64 games caught my eye, it was "Jet Force Gemini". I first heard of the game when I first returned to gaming but did not do any research on it. I even saw it at EB Games, but did not pick it up. At that time I did not have the tools I have now like a computer with a high speed connection. Also today I've got more experience and I'm pretty confident about my game choices. If I see this game again locally I'm buying it because it looks impressive, if you would like some more details on "Jet Force Gemini", then check out IGN.

List of best-selling computer and video games: Information From Answers.com

I love going through lists like the one in the above link. Many of the games I'd heard off and have played. I saw some that I've not played yet, so I need to get out there and pick these games up and take a "Game Break" and play them.

Downward Spiral: Game Series That Jumped the Shark on
Games.net

The above link is to an interesting article. I don't completely agree with every game mentioned, for example the "Tony Hawk" series, but it was a good read. I like hearing points of view other than my own. To be clear I have not played every game in the series, I didn't play the first one but I did play "Tony Hawk" 2, 3, and 4. Next up for me is the XBOX version of "THUG". I'm also very interested in the upcoming "Project 8".

Phantom Dust for Xbox - Phantom Dust Xbox Game - Phantom Dust Xbox Video Game

This is what I'm going to start playing. I like to stick to a certain console, and play a couple of games for it per month. This is currently my PS2 month, but I've finished playing the games that I had scheduled to play. So I'm starting my XBOX month one week early. The link at the beginning of this post has more info on "Phantom Dust", like screen shots and gameplay movies.

GameDaily: The latest features for Playstation 2 Tales of the Abyss

This new "tales of" game looks great. I've played "Tales of Symphonia" and "Tales of Phantasia", both were fantastic. I'm a budget gamer so when this does get released I'll still probably wait for it to hit my favorite price point $20 or less.

Here on "Game Break" there seems to be a retro theme going. I posted earlier a list of game names that had some odd names for games and systems that I had never heard of. I suppose this got me feeling a little nostalgic and I did a little reminiscing about my gaming past. I remember seeing systems like the Atari 2600 and Intellivision but I wasn't blown away by them. It was the Colecovision that blew me away. The games looked so close to what I saw in the arcade and the console came with "Donkey Kong", I had to have it. I seem to remember that was one of the selling points that persuaded my mom to get it for me, thanks mom.

In my first post today there was a link to a list of some of the worst game names. I agreed with most of the list, but found one game that although the title may not be the best according to the list, the game itself was pretty good, at least that's the impression I get from this IGN review. That game is "Klonoa: Door to Phantomile", I'd first heard of this game when I had returned to gaming after a long absence. At the time the game look ok but I didn't pursue it. I did add it to my old "games to get" list, but when the list started to grow and I started a new one, but for some reason did not add "Klonoa: Door to Phantomile" to it. Well I'm adding it and I hope to take a "shopping break" soon and pick it up.

Fifty Worst Video Game Names

I had fun going through the list of games, the names are a bit odd, but I was also interested in the games themselves. I like coming across games that I never heard of or games that I've known about and didn't think to much of it at the time, but now for some reason are worth a second look.

Wow! This afternoon I saw an item that was supposedly an early glimpse of GTA IV, I thought it was a cool screen shot, but whether or not it was real I did not know, mabey it is an XBOX 360 game, because it does look like a widescreen display to me. It is now late in the day and now something happened which I think is very interesting , here is a link so you can see the latetest developments for yourself,

Hi,

I was browsing my favorite game sites and I saw the latest Rayman game, "Rayman Raving Rabbids", it looks great. I had heard about Rayman, but at the time it did not seem like the kind of game I would enjoy. That was around 2001, now I look at the latest game and not only does it look like fun, but it makes me want to explore the Rayman universe, my question is where do I begin?, with the early games for the PSone and N64 or more recent systems like the Gamecube. Here is a link where you can get more info on Rayman and his new adventure,

Hi,

I recently played a demo for "Lara Croft Tomb Raider Legend", and I had fun with it. I had never played any of the other games in the series, so in addition to adding this game to my "games to get" list I'm going to check out some of the earlier games. Here is a review from one of my favorite game sites Gamespot.

Hi,

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for PS2 is available and at my price point $20 or less. I'm happy to see it was ported from the PSP, because I don't have a PSP. My plan was to buy it for PS2 because I heard that it was the same game and the PS2 has two thumb sticks so it's easier to control , but then I hear that it is missing content which was on the PSP version. Right now I'm on the fence, should I buy the PS2 version or wait till I buy a PSP and get the original version?.

Hi,

I was going through my "games to get list" this weekend and I noticed that "From Russia With Love" had hit my price point $20 or less. So it time to take a "shopping break" and buy it.

Hi,

Today I'm going to start my second PS2 game, "Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm". I've already played "Ghost Recon", and "Ghost Recon: Island Thunder"on the XBOX, I had fun with both, so I'm sure that "Jungle Storm" will be a good ride.

Hi,

I was browsing through the PS2 section of one of my favorite sites and saw a game I had not heard of, Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer. It looked great the images and the video, I was about to add it to my "games to get" list when I noticed the release date, August of this year. No problem I'll just put it on my "games of the future" list. Here is a link to the preview,

Hi,

Here is a link to a story I thought was iteresting, I play console games because they are fun, and all you have to do is put the disk in and play. The story in my opinion seems to suggest that the PS3 could be upgraded like a PC. I guess this is ok, after all the PS2 came without a hardrive, but could be upgraded with one. What do you think?

Hello,

The other day I was checking out some of my favorite game sites, and I noticed a game from my "games to get" list, "Tales of Legendia". It's still a relatively new game, $37.99 at Gamefly, so I'll have to wait to pick it up at my price point $20 or less. I began to wonder about how Sony's "Greatest Hits" works, so I used Google to get some info, and one of the results was Wikipedia, I've gotten good info from them in the past so I clicked on it and found this explanation.

Hi,

I changed the name of this blog from budget gamer to game break, because it seemed like the original name was to narrow. I felt like all I could post about were views on budget titles or used games. The new name, Game Break, seems more open I can post about current, future, and past games. I still consider myself a budget gamer so when new games come out I put them on my games to get list. Kingdom Hearts 2, $31.50 on Ebay, is one of those games. When it hits my price point, $20 or less, I'm buying it.

Hi,

This mourning I was surfing around my favorite game sites and something ps2 related grabed my attention. The site Kotaku.com had a maze that was created with a P, an S, and a 2. I thought it looked cool, but I wanted to know the source so I went to Aeropause.com( this site was mentioned in the post). When I got there I saw a link to this post Ad Blather : PS2. It seems like I created my own maze in this post, sorry I'm new to blogging.
